With no allowance for wasted space, I always thought every wall in any room or hallway would be cabinets. Little and large doors with medical, spare parts, firefighting, pressure suits, spare light bulbs, micrometeor damage repair gel tubes, spare air scrubber filters, and clothing.  Stuff, stuff, stuff everywhere. A built-in redundancy that ensures if you lose one module or storage bay there is a spare part somewhere.
